Privacy Policy — ChargEV
Last updated: 24 April 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ChargEV collects, uses, stores, and discloses your personal information when you visit our website or request a quote, installation, or other service from us.
ChargEV is operated by Steven Fabian Barbaric (ABN 30 907 483 994), a sole trader based in Blackburn South, Victoria. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), even where the small business exemption would otherwise apply to us.
1. What personal information we collect
When you interact with our website or request a quote, we may collect:
-
Identity and contact details — your full name, phone number, email address, and suburb.
-
Vehicle and installation details — your electric vehicle make and model, your property's power configuration (single or three phase), your preferred charger, and any other details you provide about your requirements.
-
Photos you upload — photos of your switchboard and proposed installation area, which we use to assess your job and prepare an accurate quote.
-
Correspondence — any messages, emails, or information you share with us by phone, SMS, email, or through the website.
-
Technical information — basic information collected automatically when you visit our website, such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages visited. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 7).
We do not knowingly collect sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act, and we do not collect financial account details, passwords, or government-issued identifiers through our website.
2. How we collect your personal information
We collect personal information directly from you when you:
-
Submit our Get a Quote form;
-
Call, email, or message us;

Visit our website;

Engage us to carry out an installation; or
-
Communicate with us in any other way.
In limited circumstances we may collect information from third parties — for example, from a referring customer, or from our subcontracted electrician following a site visit.
3. Why we collect your personal information
We collect and use your personal information to:
-
Prepare and provide accurate quotes;
-
Coordinate and carry out installations, including by engaging our subcontracted licensed electrician;
-
Source hardware from our supplier (JET Charge) for your installation;
-
Issue invoices and receipts;
-
Communicate with you about your quote, booking, installation, or warranty;

Comply with our legal, regulatory, and insurance obligations;
-
Respond to enquiries, complaints, and feedback;
-
Improve our website and services; and
-
With your consent, send you occasional updates or marketing communications (which you can opt out of at any time).
4. Who we share your personal information with
We only share your personal information with third parties where necessary to deliver our services or comply with the law. These include:
-
Our subcontracted electrician — we share your name, contact details, address, and job details with the licensed A-grade electrician performing your installation, so they can schedule, complete, and certify the work.
-
JET Charge — our hardware supplier, when we place an order for your charger. We provide only the minimum details required for delivery.
-
Our insurance broker and insurer — in connection with our policy, quoting, or the handling of a claim.
-
Professional advisers — such as our accountant or legal advisers, where necessary.
-
Regulatory or government bodies — where we are required to do so by law, including Energy Safe Victoria and the Australian Taxation Office.
-
Our website host and service providers — including Wix (our website platform), Google (analytics and advertising, where enabled), and other providers that help us run the business.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information for third-party marketing.
5. Storage and security
Your personal information is stored electronically via our website host (Wix) and in the secure email, cloud storage, and accounting systems we use to run the business. We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification, and disclosure, including:
-
Strong account passwords and two-factor authentication where available;
-
Limiting access to information on a need-to-know basis;
-
Secure transmission (HTTPS) for information submitted via our website; and
-
Routine review of our security practices.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of any information transmitted to us over the internet.
6. Overseas disclosure
Some of the service providers we use are based outside Australia, and your information may therefore be stored or processed overseas — including in the United States (Wix, Google). By using our website and submitting information to us, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in these locations, where privacy protections may differ from those in Australia.
7. Cookies and website tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to:
-
Allow the website to function (essential cookies);
-
Understand how visitors use our site (analytics cookies — e.g. Google Analytics);
-
Measure and improve our advertising (advertising cookies — e.g. Google Ads, where enabled).
You can control cookies through your browser settings or our cookie consent banner. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works for you.
8. Accessing, correcting, or deleting your information
You can ask us at any time to:
-
See what personal information we hold about you;
-
Correct any information that is inaccurate or out of date;
-
Delete your personal information, where we are not required to retain it by law (for example, for tax or insurance record-keeping).
To make a request, email us at hello@chargev.au or call 0419 119 988. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.
9. How long we keep your information
We keep your personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, and as required by law. Tax and invoicing records are retained for at least seven (7) years as required by Australian tax law. Quote enquiries that do not proceed to a job are typically deleted within 24 months.
10. Children
Our services are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Complaints
